Husky holds the oil sands rights to the bitumen carbonates of the Grosmont, Ireton and Nisku formations, covering more than 241,000 acres, approximately 130 kilometres west of Fort McMurray, Alberta. The Company has a 100 percent working interest and is evaluating the optimal development of this asset.
Husky is one of the larger leaseholders in the Saleski area, and is surrounded by other oil sands players such as Suncor, Shell, Laricina, Osum, and Conoco-Phillips.
Husky's development of its extensive McMullen acreage, located in the west-central region of the Athabasca oil sands of northern Alberta, involves a cold-production drilling project and an air injection pilot.
To date, Husky has, drilled 30 evaluation wells, completed a 34 square kilometre 3D seismic program and commenced the front end engineering design on a small scale thermal project, with long term development strategies currently being progressed.
Husky's 100 percent owned Caribou project is located approximately 53 kilometres northwest of Cold Lake, Alberta. The lease area encompasses 56 sections (35,480 acres).
