Husky is proud to provide support to a wide range of health and welfare groups that address important health and social issues. On Canada’s East Coast, Husky Energy donated $750,000 to the Easter Seals House in St. John's, an accessible recreational facility for children with disabilities in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Husky also committed $400,000 to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation in St. John’s Newfoundland in support of a new four-dimensional CT simulator, which will allow cancer care teams to enhance the accuracy of radiation treatment planning. Husky’s pledge of $1.5 million to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation will support research in child health. In 2008, Husky donated $1,000,000 to the Calgary Health Trust Reach! campaign to establish the Husky Energy Research Program for the Early Detection of Cardiovascular Risk. This program will help raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and bring together researchers to help develop a preventative health care strategy. In 2007, Husky Energy announced $500,000 in support of the Society for Treatment of Autism in Calgary towards renovating and customizing a care centre for children with serious forms of autism. Husky donated $100,000 to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation towards four state-of-the-art heart monitors that will help doctors evaluate and treat the cardio-respiratory condition of young patients entering the Emergency Department.
