Natural gas is a hydrocarbon gas, principally methane. It is a clean burning fuel used for home heating and industrial heat and power. Natural gas is also used in the manufacture of organic compounds found in many common household products and building materials.

Husky markets over 620 million cubic feet per day of proprietary natural gas production to Western and Eastern Canada as well as to the Northeast, Midwest and Western U.S.A. The Company draws production from a large reserve base in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan totaling approximately 2.7 trillion cubic feet of proven and probable reserves. The Company also has the potential to grow gas volumes from its existing east central and southern Alberta leases by extracting natural gas from coal (NGC).
Husky has developed a sizable industrial base in Western Canada, including its heavy oil upgrader, cogeneration facilities, refineries, ethanol plants and field production facilities. Husky is an active purchaser of natural gas to supply its feedstock, fuel, transportation, storage and gas marketing requirements.
Husky transports natural gas through 16 pipelines in Canada and the United States, and via all major export corridors that leave the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. The Company manages transport capacity for its own production and production from third party customers.
Husky handles in excess of 2.1 billion cubic feet of gas sales purchases, and marketing services. The Marketing group manages proprietary sales, internal consumption requirements, third party purchases, transportation and supply management for customers, pricing requests from end-users, storage in Western and Eastern Canada as well as NGL shrinkage contracts.

Husky manages 37.0 billion cubic feet (bcf) of proprietary and third party contracted storage capacity for natural gas. The Company's storage services allow customers to capitalize on daily and seasonal price fluctuations. Services are structured to meet each customer’s parking, loan, seasonal, peaking and long-term requirements.
Husky manages and operates two natural gas storage facilities in Western Canada: Hussar (Alberta) and East Cantaur (Saskatchewan). Additional capacity is contracted for in Alberta.
Located in the Hussar area of Southern Alberta with 17 bcf of working gas capacity, the facility is connected to the NOVA pipeline system (TransCanada-Alberta) and provides access to all major export points and intra-Alberta markets. The peak design injection rate is 140 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d) and the peak design withdrawal rate is 180 mmcf/d.
Located at East Cantaur, the facility is connected to the TransGas pipeline system and connected to the TransCanada mainline to Eastern Canada. This facility has a capacity of 5 bcf. The peak design injection rate is 40 mmcf/d and the peak design withdrawal rate is 60 mmcf/d.
