A valuable co-product of Husky's ethanol plants is a high protein feed supplement called distillers dried grain with solubles (DDGS). DDGS does not contain any animal byproducts and is marketed to the livestock industry. Husky’s two ethanol plants produce more than 250,000 tonnes of DDGS annually, making Husky the largest producer of wheat-based DDGS in North America.
Husky is working closely with the University of Saskatchewan in developing new markets for DDGS in Western Canada through ongoing livestock feeding trials.
