Tucker

Husky’s oil sands project, Tucker, is located 30 kilometres northwest of Cold Lake, Alberta, extracting bitumen resources from the Clearwater formation. It is estimated to contain 350 mmbbls of reserves (Proved 69 mmbbls, Probable 101 mmbbls and Possible 180 mmbbls) as of December 31, 2009. Husky has a 100 percent working interest. Steam injection commenced in late August 2006, and first production was achieved in late November 2006.

Optimization strategies were developed through 2009 on existing well pads. Most well pads are operating in SAGD mode and showing encouraging production response.

More than 90 percent of the water used for steam generation at Tucker is recycled from produced water which is separated from the bitumen. For process makeup water, Husky is using saline groundwater.
