Oil Sands

Tucker is Husky’s first oil sands project, located 30 kilometres northwest of Cold Lake, Alberta, and takes advantage of our existing pipeline and upgrading infrastructure in the Cold Lake and Lloydminster areas.

Husky estimates the Tucker lease contains 1.27 billion barrels of discovered resource, and that the project will recover approximately 352 million barrels over a 35-year project life. The Company will use an in-situ recovery technique known as steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) to develop bitumen resources from the Clearwater formation. Current plans anticipate that over 90 per cent of the water used for steam generation will be recycled from produced water, which is separated from the bitumen.

Construction is complete on the facility and steam injection has commenced. Tucker will ramp up production over the next two years to achieve anticipated peak production of more than 30,000 barrels per day.
