Husky has a 50 percent interest in the 215-megawatt natural gas-fired electricity Meridian cogeneration facility adjacent to its heavy oil upgrader at Lloydminster. Electricity is sold to Saskatchewan Power Corporation under a 25 year purchase agreement and thermal energy (steam) is sold to the Upgrader.
Husky has a 50 percent interest in a 90-megawatt natural gas-fired cogeneration facility adjacent to its Rainbow Lake Gas Processing Plant. The cogeneration facility produces electricity for sale into the Alberta Power Pool and thermal energy for the gas processing plant.
