The Lloydminster asphalt refinery processes heavy crude into asphalt products used in road construction and maintenance, manufactured building products, locomotive blendstock, and specialty oil field products.
The refinery is designed to produce asphalt from heavy crude oil at a rate of 25,000 barrels per day. Current capacity is 28,000 barrels as a result of recently completed debottlenecking projects. It also produces a distillate stream used by Husky's upgrader, and a condensate stream used to blend with heavy oil production.
