Natural Gas

Natural gas is a hydrocarbon gas, principally methane. It is a clean burning fuel used for home heating, and industrial heating and power. Natural gas is also used in the manufacturing of organic compounds found in many common household products and building materials.

Natural Gas Marketing

Husky Energy is a financially strong and reliable long-term player, ranking among the top producers and marketers of natural gas in Canada. Experienced professionals focus on trading and logistics activities in regions across North America where Canadian natural gas is sold. Husky is open to a broad spectrum of natural gas arrangements and deals with a variety of customers across North America. In addition, the Company has excellent credit practices which minimize risk to all parties.

Production Sales

Husky markets more than 620 million cubic feet per day of proprietary natural gas production to markets in Western and Eastern Canada and the Northeast, Midwest and Western U.S.A. The Company draws production from a large reserve base in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan totaling approximately 2.7 trillion cubic feet of proven and probable reserves. The Company also has the potential to grow gas volumes from its existing east central and southern Alberta leases by extracting natural gas from coal (NGC).

Purchase Requirements

Husky has developed a sizable industrial base in Western Canada, including its heavy oil upgrader, cogeneration facilities, refineries, ethanol plants and field production facilities. Husky is an active purchaser of natural gas to supply its feedstock, fuel, transportation, storage and gas marketing requirements.

Pipeline Transportation Management

Husky transports natural gas through pipelines in Canada and the United States, and via all major export pipelines exiting the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. The Company manages transport capacity for its own production and production from third party customers.

Marketing Activities

Husky handles in excess of 2.1 billion cubic feet of gas sales purchases, and related marketing services. The Marketing group manages proprietary sales, internal consumption requirements, third party purchases, transportation and supply management for customers, pricing requests from end-users, storage in Western and Eastern Canada, and NGL shrinkage contracts.
