Fort McMurray, AB - The Northern Lights Health Foundation announced today that Husky Energy has joined its family of corporate donors with a $250,000 donation for medical equipment.
“Husky Energy’s decision to join our donor family shows the company’s commitment to enriching the quality of life in the communities where it does business,” said Board Chairman Joe MacNeil. “We’re so pleased to have them on our team.”
“We are pleased to be active in the Wood Buffalo region and to support the Northern Lights Health Foundation,” said Husky CEO Asim Ghosh. “Providing funding towards critically needed equipment will enhance the care that is provided to the community.”
“Each and every donor is special to us at the Foundation,” said Executive Director Susanne Chaffey. “Each one brings not just much needed funding, but a true commitment to our community’s health and wellness. Husky Energy’s gift is a healthy boost for our Foundation, our health care centre, and our community.”
Husky Energy’s donation will fund medical equipment for the Emergency Department, Operating Rooms, and throughout the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.
“Delivering quality health care is a team effort,” said Dr. Surinder Khinda, Site Medical Director, Northern Lights Regional Health Centre. “Corporate partners like Husky Energy go beyond supporting health care delivery in our facilities. They are partners in enhancing the health and wellbeing of our entire community.”
As a new neighbour in the community, Husky’s Sunrise Energy Project (50% owned by Husky Energy) is located 32 kilometers east of Fort McKay. The project will use Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) technology to recover the resource over the several decades.
Established in 1985 the Northern Lights Health Foundation exists to provide funds to support Alberta Health Services funding priorities within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
