Calgary – On February 25, 2011 Husky Energy announced a $100,000 donation to the Calgary Urban Project Society (CUPS) at the CUPS One World Child Development Centre.
“Initiating positive change nowadays calls for strategic partnerships in the community. We are very grateful that we have such a partnership with Husky Energy,” said Milan Cacic, Chairperson of the CUPS campaign committee. “Through this generous donation today, CUPS stands equipped with the right resources to bring about meaningful change in the lives of many struggling Calgarians.”
The donation will help establish a new spacious Family Education Room called the Husky Energy Family Education room which will be used to provide a wide range of educational programs that will help participants of all ages to learn strategies to overcome poverty and achieve independence.
“I hope this contribution can help improve the quality of life for our less fortunate neighbours here in Calgary,” said Husky CEO Asim Ghosh. “We have a long term community partnership with CUPS and applaud their work and commitment to make a difference.”
The donation will recognize CUPS’ commitment to providing services to the poor and marginalized in Calgary over the past 20 years. It will also help CUPS’ PAINT A PICTURE OF HOPE: From Surviving To Thriving expansion campaign, which will see CUPS increase its outcomes in the community by an additional 30 percent.
