Standard, AB – The southern Alberta town of Standard is another step closer to building a new community hall, thanks in part to Husky.
Rob Symonds, Vice President of Western Canada Production, visited the community on November 1 to chat with employees from the nearby Hussar gas plant, speak with the local Mayor and present a $50,000 to the Standard Community Hall Association.
"The new hall will be a focal point in the community, and with its enhanced meeting capacity, it will become an even more vital centre for residents," said Rob.
"Our community certainly appreciates the support of the business corporations within the community", commented Ron Corbiell, Chairman of the Standard Community Hall Building Committee and Husky retiree. "Our smaller communities really gain from the support of Husky and other oil industry companies both from donations and employment opportunities."
The Hall will be utilized for a wide variety of community activities, providing meeting space for clubs and charities, as well as a venue for Christmas parties and other social events. The facility will also be used as a training facility for Husky's employees and be designated as Husky's emergency evacuation centre in the case of an emergency.
